GESTRUMENT – THE GESTURE INSTRUMENT
Gestrument was originally developed in 2007 by composer Jesper Nordin. The new app for the iPad is developed by composer and software designer Jonatan Liljedahl. The original tool was programmed by Jesper Nordin in Max/MSP using a Wacom drawing board as input and was used by Nordin in compositions like Vicinities (for bassoon and orchestra premiered by Fredrik Ekdahl and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daniel Harding), Pendants (for ensemble and live electronics premiered by Ensemble Itinéraire conducted by Dominique Dournaud), Circe (for percussion and ensemble premiered by Jean Geoffroy and Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain conducted by Daniel Kawka) and Width of a Circle (for voices and ensemble, premiered by KeN and Harmony of Voices conducted by Franck Ollu).
